Diana Mosiniak - Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day
There are over one million women in America with undetected breast cancer.
If we told you there was something you could do to help them find out and survive, how far would you be willing to go? More than almost any other serious disease, breast cancer touches nearly all of us, whether we're women or men, old or young. A woman's chance of having breast cancer during her lifetime is one in eight. That means that in your family, between your mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, sister, niece, daughter, granddaughter - 1 of these will be affected by breast cancer. That does not even start to take into account the number of friends, extended relatives, and co-workers that you know. Think of all the women you have contact with on a daily basis. Breast cancer will touch you in some way during your lifetime. Now is the time to enter the fight. If not for yourself, think of all the wonderful women in your life that you will be helping. Less than a third of American women follow the recommended guidelines for self-examination and regular mammography. Many of them are underserved, don't have access to a doctor or are too afraid of the results to find out. But finding out is critical -- more than 97% of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer at an early stage survive for more than five years. I have registered to participate in the Avon Breast Cancer 3-day Walk. It is 3-day, 60-mile walk from Fort Worth to Dallas in the support of Breast Cancer. I have made a commitment to fundraise $2,000 and I need your help to reach my goal. The mission of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is to fund access to care and find a cure for breast cancer. Our efforts will support this mission through five vital areas of the breast cancer cause: biomedical research, clinical care, financial assistance and support services, educational seminars and advocacy training, and early detection and awareness programs nationwide. Here is a chance for your steps to save lives. Real lives. Not twenty years from now, but right now. Someone’s mother. Someone’s daughter. Someone’s friend. This is a cause that is very dear to my heart. Not just because I am a woman, or even because I have 2 sisters and a mother that I cherish. Mainly because of the strong women that I know that are breast cancer survivors: My grandmother, my best friend's grandmother, and my best friend's aunt. Also because a dear friend of our family is in the heart of the fight against breast cancer. Because I have seen these women fight......and survive, and because I know what it means to be touched by Breast Cancer, I ask that you help me in my efforts. Do what you can. If you cannot help financially, then support me by keeping me in your thoughts on April 26, 27, and 28 during my walk. Thank you |
